Three-quarters of company executives agreed that the previous two years have been extremely stressful, but that they have kept this tension disguised from their employees.
In December 2021, independent research company Censuswide was commissioned to poll 500 UK-based small business decision-makers for the study, titled Get Fit for Business. The data is included in a study that examines how corporate executives are functioning psychologically and physically, as well as their professional and personal relationships and financial metrics.
Leaders clearly recognised the need to de-stress, with over 73% participating in a stress-relieving activity for the first time, such as yoga or meditation.
Furthermore, when questioned about their health and wellness, 83% agreed that they function best when they get adequate sleep, eat well, and exercise often. However, 71% of respondents indicated that working from home had made them less physically fit.
As a consequence, 78 percent of company leaders have increased their investment in their employees’ health and well-being, recognising that this leads to a happier and more productive workforce. Especially when 30% responded that keeping their employees engaged was their top worry — this number rose for the healthcare, retail, and transportation sectors, which is logical considering the strains these businesses faced during the epidemic.
Despite the fact that some company executives are burnt out (21%), more than three quarters (76%) are positive about the future of 2022. Furthermore, 75% said that their company’s ability to adapt during the pandemic has increased their confidence as a leader.
