Why should employee experience be a top priority in 2022?

Businesses around the country will prioritise improving the employee experience in 2022. Millions of individuals have quit their employment in the last year in search of better and more intriguing prospects. Many have yet to return to work, and experts predict that another wave of resignations will occur in the coming year.

As the world of Covid is coming to an end, health and safety rules are still continuously changing, making on-site worker management even more difficult. These requirements are vital, but they may be taxing HR professionals who are already overworked.

Given these factors, HR departments face a challenge in keeping employees engaged but without putting the company at risk. Employees want to be challenged and encouraged at work. Companies, on the other hand, cannot ignore their regulatory commitments, especially in the face of a public health crisis – in 2022, finding the appropriate balance will be critical.

 

Make it possible for employees to succeed

 

Employees need to know that their employers have their best interests at heart in these volatile times. People are prepared to make adjustments – even forego pay for months at a time – when they don’t believe this to be true, as the Great Resignation has proven. Inefficient manual procedures, schedule problems, incorrect salary computations, and delayed payments, among other things, are frequently tiny things that push workers over the brink.

HR departments must prioritise the needs of their employees, especially in light of the pandemic’s erratic work environment. Even once the pandemic is gone, 71% of employees, according to Owl Labs, prefer a hybrid or entirely remote working style. According to the same Owl Labs study, one-third of respondents would quit their employment if they were unable to work remotely in the future.

Many people, of course, do not have the freedom to choose where they work, so businesses must find additional methods to help these employees on the job. Hourly and shift employees, as well as those who supervise them, require tools to help them do their duties more efficiently. Managers, for example, want software that makes workforce scheduling and resource management easier across several projects. 

These types of investments are what businesses should make in 2022 to help employees succeed and keep important employees who may otherwise look for new possibilities. The good news is that keeping employees happy does more than just protect them from leaving; it also adds value in other ways.

 

Better business results are on the way

 

Improving employee satisfaction has a measurable and beneficial impact on corporate results. Owl Labs, for example, discovered that organisations that allow employees to work from home have a 25% lower turnover rate. Furthermore, nine out of ten workers claim that working from home is just as productive as working in an office. Employees are 13% more productive when they are satisfied in their jobs, according to the conclusions of a major research conducted by Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

Furthermore, engaged employees are more likely to show up for work. According to Gallup, engaged businesses have a 41% lower absenteeism rate. They also outperform other businesses with poor engagement in terms of profitability by 22%. To put it another way, motivated personnel make more revenue.

According to the same Gallup study, disengaged employees drive consumers away, to the point that organisations with highly engaged workforces beat competitors by 1.5 times. When employees aren’t invested in their jobs or the firms they work for, American businesses lose $450-$550 billion in productivity each year.

When knowledge workers are trusted with the option of where to work, they are more likely to stay with flexible employers and perform at a high level. When they are highly engaged, they also assist the businesses for which they work, producing greater value, both in terms of output and in terms of how they treat prospects and customers.

 

The Year of the Employee will be 2022

 

The message here is that if company executives and HR teams want to enhance corporate success, they must emphasise employee well-being and empowerment. This is particularly true in 2022, as the trend of individuals quitting their employment in record numbers to pursue new chances continues. This initiative must include all personnel, including remote, hybrid, and onsite workers, hourly vs. paid workers, and so on.

In today’s continuously changing regulatory context, HR departments will also need to incorporate new technology that improve employee experiences, expedite manual operations, and ensure compliance. The idea is to discover high-quality solutions that fit easily into existing procedures and make workers’ lives simpler.
